Such last-minute tours are proposed to the tourists as the hotels understand that the rooms haven’t been fully booked and there are still some places at the airplane. This proposal is for those risky people who are willing to take offer at the last minute. What is more important here is that both hotels and airlines propose you a very good discount. Paris Food

by PortugalTripAdvisor on November 23, 2009

Paris is a desired European destination for many Americans. ParisApartamento barato Paris being the main destination in France, is the gateway for most travellers coming by airplane. As a gateway city, Paris ends up with tons of visitors who spend time within that city without help. Not just is it a great tourist destination, it serves the function of being one of the main cities in France and Europe for industry. Many French companies have major offices in Paris. It is this mix of business and free time that help make Paris a multi-ethnic city.

Paris can be reached effortlessly from several cities around the USA. Most of the US carriers who serve Europe as well as Air France offer several non-stop flights to the Paris area airports. From Houston, you have a choice of two flights, four if you count the code shared flights between Air France and Continental. (Continental and Air France each operate a single flight with flight numbers from both airlines.) LAX on the west coast as well as numerous east coast cities serve as US gateway cities. If you are in London, it is possible to hop on the “Chunnel” and take a high tempo train between the two cities.

My Experiences

To my surprise, on my last visit I found the people in Paris far friendlier than I remember them from my visit 16 years ago. English seems to be spoken more now than when I was there last. It could have been the local holiday time bringing joy around the world, or just a revolutionize in attitude towards those pesky American tourists who pour money into their economy.

During our stay, I was extremely joyful to be treated so well by the desk agents in our hotel, and the wait staff at the restaurants we decided to visit. Our hotel was a petite boutique hotel chosen by my wife’s co-worker who was with her on the trip to Istanbul. She and her now partner visit Paris regularly, in fact she even has kin there, so she chose the hotel for its old-fashioned setting and the nearby park. Unneeded to stay the staff treated us very well, and spoke perfect English. The desk agent even made sure that when we headed back to the airport that she came out and spoke in French Apartamentos Paristo the driver of our taxi to make sure he knew exactly where we were going.

We stayed and dined primarily in the Latin quarter. In this area, we found several small cafes that served up great French food. One evening we went down a road full of relatives run restaurants where menus were displayed in the windows. As we looked at menus we were approached by the servers and owners all contribution to serve us a great meal, either from the menu or they will make up a meal of our choosing. My wife was expecting so we did not drink any of the French wine while there. We did like some great food from the menu. (Unfortunately I ended up coming down with the flu by the end of the weekend, which made for a long flight home.)

During one of our full days spent in the city was filled up with a city tour. We found one of the open top, double decker buses used by tour companies. I believe we ended up on the red bus as it seems like there were yellow busses, from another tour company doing the same tour. The complete circuit takes about two hours if you do not hop off and back on. We determined that hopping off at a couple of the sites was appeal it. In fact, we chose our stops earlier than the tour got going. That permitted us to plan out our day. (Weather was exceptionally cold and sad so on foot was not too much fun.)

We stopped at the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, and in close proximity to a trade centre where body spray shops were everywhere. If you have allergies those shops can be tough on your body. The tour guide on the Red bus was great. She explained the meaning of what we saw as we drove surrounding the city. We cruised down several main streets. We cruised along the side of the waterway which has loads of good-looking sites along its banks. The tour guide pointed out the numerous architectural styles we encountered on our tour OH-Holidays. All around the Red Bus was a great way to finish a day.

Advice On Renting A Car Within Budget

by PortugalTripAdvisor on November 22, 2009

You may need to consider car rental while going on a holiday or a business trip. If you are not big on public transport then you have to opt for a car rental service. In general, car rental services can be expensive. So, read on to know how to hire the services of a car rental agency that doesn’t exceed your budget.

1. Be on the look-out for discounts and special offers: Alberton car rental agencies often give out discounts and special offers that you can make good use of to rent a car within your budget. Some budget car rental services offer special discounts, special offers, etc. that are available only when bookings are done online.

2. Check the hired car for damages: Before leasing a car, check thoroughly whether it has any damages or not. If you tell the renter about these damages before hiring the car, then you usually pay less for renting that car. While inspecting for damages on the car, inspect the car accessories, radio, wipers, breaks, seat belts, etc.

3. Car Type: Not all types of cars can be rented within a low budget. Hiring smaller cars will definitely cost less than hiring a limo. If you have to go by your budget, go for a small car.

4. Avoid Car Pickup: Many car leasing agencies charge extra for delivering the car to your doorstep. If you want to save money, pick up the car yourself. This will save you some additional costs on the car rental.

5. Comparing Prices: Deciding on the first Kempton Park car rental company that comes your way is not a good decision. The fifth one perhaps will suit your budget. But for that you need to check out the car rental prices offered by different agencies and enquire which one gives the best deal that won’t hurt your pocket as well.

Madrid Vacation Attractions

by PortugalTripAdvisor on November 22, 2009

Often the best spots to vacation are the ones with ample amenities, a lot of unique culture and a diverse array of activities. You will certainly find all of these things if your travel plans include Madrid, Spain. The nation’s capital city houses historic architecture, busy restaurants, unique shops, bars and cafes in Puerta del Sol and Plaza de la Villa. The tree-lined boulevard of Castellana is a bit more relaxing, with coffee shops, art galleries and botanical gardens. The best shopping, architecture and movie houses can be discovered along Gran Via, a popular Madrid street. Madrid de los Austrias is a charming and romantic nook of a town, where wrought-iron porches, cobbled alleyways, street lamps and old buildings sit beside the opera house, the Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor. Furthermore, there’s upscale shopping in Salamanca, rowboats in the lush playground known as Retiro Park and scores of lively nightclubs in Moncloa and Argüelles. Adventure and variety await in Madrid!

Your Madrid vacation wouldn’t be complete without sampling some local cuisine. You may try olives from Campo Real, white garlic from Chinchón, beef from the Guadarrama Mountains, asparagus from Aranjuez or Madrid’s home-harvested virgin olive oil. Travel professionals often recommend taking a culinary/food and wine tour to get the best local dining experience. Trip Advisor travelers highly recommend the “Adventurous Appetites” tours (www.adventurousappetites.com), which takes you to several different venues to sample tostadas, tapitos, pinchos, prawns, olives, salads, meats, cheese, tapas, sherry, manzanilla wine, mojitos and coffee.

Naturally, after eating all that rich food, you’ll need to walk around and see the sights of Madrid. At the ultra-modern Cosmo Caixa (science museum), you’ll catch a glimpse of how the Earth was created, how tornadoes work and play with interactive exhibits that will keep the kids busy for hours. Visit a zoo, an amusement park, a garden and a bullfighting school at Casa de Campo, which is the “Central Park” of Madrid. At Casa de América you will see stunning 19th century architecture and, the locals warn, you may even see a ghost! Capricho de la Alameda de Osuna is one of the most tranquil settings in bustling Madrid. As a hideout for Napoleon’s soldiers, these well-manicured gardens are fit for a duchess (the Duchess of Osuna, to be exact). Nuestra Señora de la Almudena is a neoclassical cathedral built in the 19th century, which tops many Madrid travel plan itineraries. Similarly, the art museum at Basílica de San Francisco el Grande cannot be missed.

A vacation is also a great opportunity to go shopping and find newfound treasures to take back home. Madrid travel offers numerous fashion boutiques, specialty shops and shopping districts to choose from. Calle Preciados and Calle Montera are only accessible by foot and showcase both women’s and men’s apparel. Calle Serrano is home to the most sophisticated designer boutiques and art galleries. Similarly, Calle Goya and Calle Alcalá are popular designer shopping streets. Calle Princesa and Calle Bravo Murillo have a number of great clothing and shoe shops. In El Rasto, shoppers will find more than just clothing, as pet accessories, furniture, art and books can also be purchased here. Another eclectic area is Calle Gran Vía, which is bustling with clothing shops, cinemas and popular hotels. La Vaguada is the region’s largest shopping mall, with over 300 stores in a small area, as well as a cinema, bowing alley and several trendy cafes. As you can see, there is much to do in Madrid, Spain!

Remember Remember, 5th November

by PortugalTripAdvisor on November 22, 2009

One festival perculiar to Britain is Guy Fawkes Day which is celebrated every year on 5th November. The festival commemorates the foiled ‘gunpoweder plot’ which was designed to overthrow the English government. Guy Fawkes was the leader of the band which hatched the plot. The plan was to plant a bomb in the houses of parliament and ultimately kill the English king- James I.Guy Fawkes and his men were caught red handed trying to execute one of their plans. The festival since then has been a celebration of what England was and what it has been since the event had occurred so many centuries ago.

Guy Fawkes History

The plot of this foiled gun powder incident can be in detail seen in the movie V for Vendetta that actually made the premise of the entire plot more interesting and brought to focus the entire nature of such an act. The punishment for the conspirators was to be hanged, drawn and quartered - in other words killed for the crime of Treason. Despite being killed for the conspiracy, Guy Fawkes was still held to be something of a visionary and inspirational character; having convinced other people of his reasoning to blow up the houses of parliament. The plot is drummed into British schoolchildren by use of a little rhyme which begins ‘remember remember, the fifth of November’.

The Custom of Guy Fawkes Day

The celebration for this event generally occurs in the form of fireworks and festivities. Large bonfires are also lit in towns across Britain. The festival is not only celebrated in Britain, but also sometimes in other commonwealth countries such as Australia, South Africa and Canada.

Owing to a fireworks ban, some other territories no longer celebrate the day - including Barbuda and Antigua. In Canada, the festival has a particular following in Newfoundland and Labrador. When the celebrations begin at night, the air is usually rich with the smell of smoke and fire. The English of course put on the biggest celebrations. It’s not unusual to see people on the street celebrating, and large fireworks displays put on to mark the event. The festival which is Over 400 years still seems to have its followers all over the world. With an idea that could last forever, Guy Fawkes Day continues to be celebrated on the 5th of November annually.

Oman’ National Day Celebrated

by PortugalTripAdvisor on November 22, 2009

The celebration of Oman’s National Day takes place every year on November 18 as a celebration of independence from the Portuguese in 1650.National Day coincides with Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s birthday, which occurs November 19, adding additional significance to the day.

Quick History of National Day in Oman

Islam first entered Oman in 749, when the country chose an Imam to be its leader. The country’s people remained relatively independent until 1507, despite some pressure from neighbouring Iran and other Arab countries.

In 1507, the Portugese arrived, bringing with them superior naval technology which infiltrated Muscat and Sohar. The Portuguese saw the ports along the coast of Oman as valuable stopping and trading points in their Indian spice trade routes.

Spice trading became a lucrative and important source of income for the Portugese, as well as the British and Dutch who were performing similar commercial operations at the time. But as the Portugese started to exploit Oman’s resources, the Al-Ya’ribi decided to woo the East India Company of Britain to reduce the strain on resources the Portugese were placing on Oman. The British signed an agreement with Oman which effectively reduced Portugese power in the area. The agreement guaranteed certain legal and religious rights to Oman, in exchange for the East India company to hold trading positions.

On November 18, 1650, Imam Sultan Bin Saif and others led an uprising that effectively expelled Portugal from Oman and its ports. As independence has been a staple since, Oman is generally recognized as being the longest continually independent Arab state in modern history.

Oman’s National Day Traditions, Customs and Activities

Today, people celebrate both Oman’s independence from the Portuguese and the Sultan’s birthday on November 18. Fireworks displays, images of the sultan, and Oman’s flag can be seen during celebrations that focus on the progress the current sultan, Qaboos bin Said, has made for the people of Oman.

by PortugalTripAdvisor on November 21, 2009

Volcanoes and beaches. The Canary Island of Lanzarote is best known for this twin tourist offering. A successful recipe that helps the island attracts millions of holidaymakers every year. Further assisted by year round sunshine and a four hour flight time from all of the major airports in Britain. Making it both accessible and affordable all year round.

Costa Teguise is the ideal location for anyone keen to explore Lanzarote’s main attractions. As the resort is located in the north of the island in close proximity to these centres of culture and tourism. Which are all within a fifteen minute drive. Costa Teguise also offers plenty of good quality beaches – such as Playa Cucharas and Playa Bastian – and has an open and spacious feel.

Puerto del Carmen is located around twenty minutes along the coast from Costa Teguise. In a slightly more sheltered position that creates better weather conditions during the winter months. Created with the help of imported Saharan sand.

Playa Blanca is located right at the southern end of Lanzarote. Just across the Bocaina Straits from the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura. And is the most modern resort of the three - constructed during the 1990´s. There’s a wide range of villa accommodation here – along with a large choice of five and four star hotels. The most frequent complaint about a bed and a breakfast is that they do not stand the prices. Actually in some a bed and a breakfast, they advertise special offers but when you reach these offers there it is not accessible any more, and you finally pay huge money for idle time a bed and a breakfast.

If you do find a bed and a breakfast that is cheap enough to definitely save you some cash, you are perhaps in for a big disadvantage. When a bed and a breakfast is too cheap, it most of all the times is a dirty hotel, which does not even propose housekeeping accommodation for your room.

Location is everything, in particular when you are traveling to a place you do not know. So if a b and is not too expensive, be suspicious, it is maybe located in not pleasant neighborhood, and far from all the major traveler attractions. You do not need to be stuck in a marvelous place like this.

The Unique City Of Romance - Paris Hotels Have It All

by PortugalTripAdvisor on November 21, 2009

For some people who love to travel, Paris is a must visit city. The city of love is always open for business. The romance of seeing the Eiffel Tower close and in person is something everyone should try to do at least once. Not only is Paris itself beautiful, but the hotels are too, and being able to see the beautiful hotel furniture is a real treasure.

One may think that they are walking into a movie when they gaze for the first time at all Paris has to offer. In Paris, there are hundreds of hotels to consider for your stay. The Paris Hotels are more expensive than other parts of the country because Paris is where everyone goes. The Paris hotels are scattered all over the city. Many of the best ones are close to the Eiffel Tower which is great for travellers. The more hotels there are, the more opportunities for you to go back and visit and see all the fabulous French furniture they have.

In France, you will be probably be aware that their currency is the Euro. You already know that Paris hotels are pricey, so get enough money changed into Euros to cover the cost. People can’t afford to take lavish holidays on a regular basis, especially with the recession, so that’s why many will only visit this wonderful city once.

Staying in some nice Paris Hotels will be fun and most want to at least try to stay close to everything. There’s no way that Paris is going to look like all the other hotels you stay at in your own country, so bear the different culture in mind. People adapt quickly and Paris has added things that we all like.
If you’re not a regular traveller, landing in somewhere like Paris might come as a bit of a shock, especially when people start talking French at you. This should of course be expected but for people who have never travelled outside of their home country, it can come as a bit of a shock.

Thankfully, there are many people who also speak English and can help those travellers who may seem lost. In the majority of the Paris hotels, the concierge staff and others are English-speaking so they will be able to guide you and help show you round the hotel. You can relax in some comfy hotel furniture as you wait for someone to come over and show you you’re room.

The same as any other major city, the traveller will want to have rooms reserved before they land in Paris. You can easily head online and do an online reservation for the hotel room of your choice. Look for hotels that give you that bit extra.

Events Rome

by PortugalTripAdvisor on November 20, 2009

After 3 weeks of living in Rome, having already become bored with the monotony of the club scene that entices many international students, my chums and I chose to take in a fashion event presented by AltaRoma. We stayed in an appartement rome centrum. It was to be held at the historic Tempio di Adriano in Piazza di Pietra, an environment that contrasted sharply with the hi-tech feel of the event.
AltaRoma, an organization that provides opportunities and fosters relations among well-known Italian designers, encourages the cultivation of young, talent through coaching,’intended not only as a means of safeguarding the artisan quality but also as the driver of innovation, creativeness and technology,’ according to the AltaRoma website. Needless to say, walking into a room stuffed with some of the most fashionable young folk in Rome, while flourishing only my tacky beige messenger bag was quite menacing. However , we didn’t let that get in the way of occupying front row seats and grabbing as much promo material as we could get our hands on.

the 1st act was called’Wit Open Shooting Roger Weiss,’ which consisted of folk dressed in colourful card shapes, many of them phallic, dancing around a still model as photographers shot round the stage. The music was set to techno remixes of favored American hiphop songs, and the lighting beat to the beats of the music. This composition led one to a kind of hypnotic trance, which came as a welcome distraction after enduring more than forty-five mins - about forty mins too long to my mind - of the same. The bored and out-of-sorts expression worn by the model was the mirror image of those worn by the crowd, whose faces and outfits became increasingly more fascinating to watch than what was happening on stage. However , after the performance was over, I started to wonder if the anomaly of the act was precisely the point of it. Either way, it was something Ihad never before, and might never again, experience.

The second act was a performance art piece by Chicks on Speed. I braced myself for something so foreign and creatively different I wouldn’t understand it, as the set started with what only can be depicted as 2 hollering banshees. 2 ladies, dressed in identical jumpsuit, used video photographs, as well as easy, every day and typically female, objects such as stilettos, scissors and cloth to create an engaging and forceful performance. The set was an eclectic mixture of a rhythmic montage of derriere slapping to a cover of the Beach Boys song’Surfer Girl’, whose words were modified to make the final female anthem [*CO]’super surfer girl in the death defying curl.’ The act culminated in a dance party in which fashonistas and common students alike could get up on stage and dance to celebrate fashion, self-expression and life.

I strode out of the show re-energized and prepared for the next new and out-of-the- standard experience Rome had to throw my way. We went back to appartement centrum rome.
